A home-improvement contractor accused of the hit-and-run death of a Miller Place woman appeared in court Tuesday on a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Michael Grusel held on $1M bond in fatal stabbing in Babylon
The man accused of fatally stabbing an Amityville man near a Little League field in Babylon was ordered held on $1 million bond Sunday. Michael Grusel, 28, of Babylon, was charged with first-degree manslaughter after, prosecutors said, he fatally stabbed James Moran, 20, in the chest Saturday. Grusel, who is due back in court Thursday, faces 5 to 25 years in prison if convicted.

Cops: Man in LIE road-rage arrested at sobriety checkpoint
A Central Islip man sentenced to 11 months in prison related to a road-rage incident on the Long Island Expressway last year was arrested Sunday at a sobriety checkpoint in North Babylon, police said Monday. Jason Parker, 25, pleaded not guilty Monday to a felony count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, plus driving while impaired by drugs and possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors.

DA: 3 charged in rent-to-steal car scam
Three Suffolk County men have been indicted on charges they used stolen credit card information from hundreds of Long Islanders to rent, then steal and sell high-end rental cars from airport vendors, authorities said Wednesday.

Suffolk prosecutors charged several men Wednesday with running a cocaine and marijuana trafficking ring in the Mastic-Shirley area. Assistant District Attorney Dina Cangero identified two men as leaders of the ring: Michael Meurer, 39, of Miller Place, and Johnny Gonzales, 43, of Franklin Square.
